THE PROVINCE OF ASCOLI PICENO FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE EUROPEAN LANDSCAPE CONVENTION.

The Province of Ascoli Piceno is one of the six provincial administrations that joined ENELC (European Network for the Implementation of the European Landscape Convention) as charter members. Since 2006, it is engaged in the development of projects aiming to the implementation of articles 5 and 6 of CEP and to experiment new methods for the involvement and the direct participation of local communities in the processes of landscape management. More specifically, this project implies an action aiming to convey a sense of common awareness to citizens and to the whole community. This action is displayed through the programme of “Saggi Paesaggi” festival. This initiative also involves experts, technicians and local administrators in vocational training courses and conventions to promote the definition of the right technical instruments and the good practices for landscape management. Finally, the development of some pilot projects provides the chance to experiment new methods of co-planning and governance.
